Abstract graphic comparing the best SEO agencies in Switzerland: one agency in a list is highlighted and connected to an evaluation

The short version

  • Ten SEO agencies from Switzerland are compared: Beyondweb, flin, digitalfox, winno, iqual, mmb media, ONELINE, netpulse, swipe and Gutzwiller Kommunikation. The comparison reflects the state of October 2026.
  • The order is for orientation and is not a universal ranking. Which agency fits depends on industry, company size, starting position, budget and the services you need.
  • The agencies were assessed against six criteria: SEO specialisation, content and on-page SEO, off-page SEO, GEO and LLMO, experience and own visibility, and transparency and measurability.
  • For Swiss SMEs that want to develop SEO, GEO and their website from a single source, Beyondweb is the best fit.
  • Reputable agencies measure success by enquiries, conversions and revenue, not just by rankings. No serious provider can guarantee rankings.

Anyone who wants to be visible on Google and in AI search systems can hardly do without professional search engine optimisation in 2026. By its own account, Google now processes more than 5 trillion searches a year. At the same time, part of search is shifting to AI assistants: according to a representative Comparis survey from March 2026, 76.1 per cent of the Swiss population regularly use AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, more than 40 per cent of them also as a replacement for classic web search.

SEO has changed considerably over the past few years as a result. A modern SEO strategy has long since stopped being just keywords and a few optimised texts. Technical SEO, a well-thought-out site structure, high-quality content and backlinks remain the foundation. On top of that come local SEO, conversion optimisation and new disciplines such as Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Large Language Model Optimization (LLMO). Today, companies want not only to be found in the classic Google results but also to appear as a source in AI Overviews and in the AI answers of ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity.

The range of SEO agencies in Switzerland is correspondingly large. From specialist SEO firms and web agencies with an SEO focus to large digital marketing agencies, there are different models. But which SEO agency is the right one?

For this comparison we looked at ten SEO agencies from Switzerland that stand out for their specialisation, experience, range of services and engagement with the changes in search. This comparison reflects the state of October 2026.

The order is for orientation and is not to be read as a universal ranking. Which SEO agency fits best always depends on industry, company size, starting position, budget and the services you need.

How were the best SEO agencies selected?

Google reviews and a price list alone say little today about whether an SEO agency suits a company. Since AI systems became part of search, a broader set of criteria is needed. For this comparison we therefore assessed the agencies against six criteria.

1. SEO specialisation

Search engine optimisation should be a core competence of the agency, not merely one of dozens of services. That includes SEO strategy, keyword research, technical SEO, SEO audits, content optimisation, internal linking and ongoing monitoring, among other things.

2. Content and on-page SEO

Successful SEO needs content that understands search intent and gives people concrete answers. Good agencies work with a clear content strategy for this, for example with topic clusters and pillar pages. At the same time, site structure, URL structure, metadata and technical requirements have to be right.

3. Off-page SEO, backlinks and digital authority

Your own website is only one part of an SEO strategy. Mentions and links from external websites help build the digital authority of a domain. For AI search, brand mentions are gaining weight: an Ahrefs analysis of 75,000 brands found a correlation of 0.664 between brand mentions on the web and visibility in Google AI Overviews, and only 0.218 for the number of backlinks. A correlation is no proof of a direct connection, but it does show that presence outside your own website counts. That is why we consider whether an agency integrates link building, digital PR, brand mentions or other off-page measures into its strategy.

4. GEO and LLMO

Classic Google search remains relevant. At the same time, people increasingly research through AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. This traffic is still smaller, but valuable: measured by conversion rate, a visitor from AI search is worth on average 4.4 times as much as a visitor from classic organic search, according to a Semrush study. A modern SEO agency should therefore understand how search engine optimisation and Generative Engine Optimization complement each other.

5. Experience and own visibility

Industry experience and years of practice make a difference, because every industry has its own search queries, target groups and competitors. The agency's own presence is also a good indicator: an agency that ranks well for its own relevant terms and appears in AI answers usually masters its craft for clients too.

6. Transparency and measurability

  • How does the agency work?
  • Which services are included?
  • Are there traceable processes, goals and KPIs?
  • What does the reporting look like?

The more transparently the collaboration is laid out before the start, the easier it is for companies to compare different providers.

1. Beyondweb GmbH

AspectDetail
LocationRotkreuz, Zug
Focus areasSEO, GEO/LLMO, web design, CRO, content and link building
Suited toB2B companies, Swiss SMEs and companies that want to combine SEO and website optimisation

Beyondweb is a Swiss web design and SEO agency based in Rotkreuz in the canton of Zug.

What sets the agency's approach apart from classic SEO providers in particular is that search engine optimisation is closely tied to web design, user experience and conversion rate optimisation. So it is not only about more organic visibility but also about what happens on the website with the traffic gained.

The SEO offering includes technical and content SEO audits, keyword research, SEO strategies, ongoing content optimisation as well as link building and backlinks. Beyondweb also works intensively on visibility in AI search systems and combines classic SEO with GEO and LLMO.

On its website the agency cites more than eight years of experience and over 100 completed projects. The founders of Beyondweb also teach website marketing at ZHAW, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.

A further focus is the measurability of SEO measures. Alongside rankings and organic traffic, the emphasis is above all on leads, conversions and business impact.

What sets Beyondweb apart?

  • Combination of SEO, GEO, web design and CRO
  • Technical SEO and content strategy
  • Ongoing link building and backlink acquisition
  • Optimisation for Google and AI search systems
  • SEO workshops and in-house upskilling
  • Own web development within the agency
  • Focus on measurable leads and conversions

Beyondweb positions itself particularly strongly with B2B companies whose products and services need explaining. Ato Herzig, founder and managing director, describes the company's focus like this:

We are the ideal partner for B2B companies that want to develop their website into a scalable inbound marketing channel. Our core competence lies in positioning and marketing products and services that need explaining.
Ato Herzig, founder and managing director of Beyondweb (translated from German)

How this approach can play out in practice is shown by the SEO campaign for FlexOffice, among others. Within six months, both Google rankings and visibility in AI search improved significantly.

The case study graphic is in German. Its key figures: ChatGPT traffic up 2.7 times in six months, from 149 to 407 visitors; position 2 for "coworking space zürich", a jump of 41 places on Google; average Google position 13.2, down from 27.9 a year earlier.

Unlike pure SEO agencies, Gutzwiller views digital visibility in interplay with branding, web design and communication. Alongside corporate design and websites, the offering includes SEO, GEO, Google Business, content and online marketing.

The agency is thus aimed particularly at SMEs that want not only better rankings but also to develop their brand presence and communication at the same time. This combination can be especially interesting in a local and regional setting: website, Google visibility, AI visibility and brand communication are coordinated through one central contact.

What sets Gutzwiller Kommunikation apart?

  • SEO and GEO
  • Web design and web development
  • Google Business
  • Branding and corporate design
  • Content and communication
  • Focus on SMEs
  • Strong regional roots in Aargau

What should companies look for when choosing an SEO agency?

More than 99 per cent of Swiss companies are SMEs. Starting positions vary accordingly: a regional trade business needs something different from a B2B provider with international customers or an online shop. These points help with the comparison:

  • Clear goals and KPIs: Reputable agencies measure success by enquiries, conversions and revenue, not just by rankings or traffic. Goals, metrics and reports should be out in the open from the start.
  • Access to your own data: Google Search Console, analytics and tracking belong to the company, not the agency.
  • Own visibility: Does the agency itself rank for relevant terms, and does it appear in AI answers? That is a simple test anyone can run.
  • Industry experience: Anyone who knows the target groups and competition in an industry finds the right levers faster.
  • Region and language: For businesses that win customers mainly in their own region, local SEO is decisive. And because Switzerland has four national languages, multilingual websites need a clean URL structure and correctly marked-up language versions.
  • Transparent contracts: Clear responsibilities, terms and notice periods prevent misunderstandings. Be wary of ranking guarantees: no serious provider can give them.
  • Price and performance: Prices for SEO services vary widely. What matters is which services are included, not just the monthly amount.

Which audits and SEO tools are part of an agency's work?

Almost every SEO engagement starts with a technical SEO audit. It checks indexing, crawling, redirects, load times and Core Web Vitals, site structure and internal linking, among other things. This makes errors and structural gaps visible before money goes into new content. For an online shop, e-commerce-specific topics come on top, such as filter pages, product variants and duplicate content.

For analysis, most agencies rely on a combination of proven tools:

  • Google Search Console: indispensable and free, provides data directly from Google on search queries, clicks and indexing
  • Screaming Frog: crawler for technical analysis of your own website
  • Ahrefs: known for one of the largest backlink databases
  • Semrush: extensive database for SEO and Google Ads
  • Sistrix: widely used in German-speaking markets, above all for its Visibility Index
  • SE Ranking: a cheaper alternative that can be particularly worthwhile for SMEs

Tools alone do not bring results, though. What makes the difference is how an agency interprets the data and translates it into concrete measures.

Summary: the best SEO agencies in Switzerland

For Swiss SMEs that want to develop SEO, GEO and their website from a single source, Beyondweb is the best fit: strategy, content, link building, web design and conversion optimisation sit in one team, the agency has completed over 100 projects, and the founders teach website marketing at ZHAW.

flin and mmb media play to their strengths when SEO is to be part of a broad digital marketing and analytics strategy, ONELINE when the focus is firmly on leads. digitalfox, winno and Gutzwiller Kommunikation suit SMEs that tackle visibility together with web design or brand presence, iqual and swipe technically demanding websites and shops, netpulse individual strategies with a local focus.

What has the most impact in the end is a solid foundation: technically flawless pages, content that answers real questions, and an agency that measures its success by enquiries and revenue rather than just rankings.
